JAIPUR: A 16-year-old student who was preparing for NEET exams committed suicide in Sikar on Monday.

He was a resident of Karauli and was studying at a private coaching institute.

The victim was identified as Kaushal Meena.

A police official stated that since April 23, the student had been living in a boys' hostel.

He arrived at the hostel around 12 noon on Monday and went to his room after having lunch.After some time, his friend went to the room, but the door was locked from inside.

The friend informed the hostel incharge, and the door to the room was broken open.

Kaushal was found hanging from the ceiling fan.

After receiving the information from the hostel owner, the police reached the scene and took the body.

The deceased was then taken to the district hospital's mortuary.

An official said, "The reason for the suicide has not been determined till now.

The boy's relatives have been informed."The student had returned to the hostel on August 31 after spending Raksha Bandhan holidays at home.

"The boy's postmortem will be conducted once his relatives reach Sikar.

We are currently investigating the matter." said a police official.
