According to recent statements by Israeli defense authorities, the ongoing conflict in Gaza is expected to persist for at least another year.These remarks were made amidst a visit by U.S.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken to the Middle East, aiming to discuss strategies to mitigate the situation.Amos Yadlin, a former head of military intelligence with close ties to senior officials, indicated that the campaign in Gaza might parallel past lengthy conflicts.He referenced the international coalition against ISIS in 2017, which lasted nine months, and Israel’s 2002 offensive in the West Bank, which took two years to subdue terrorism.Yadlin suggested that the current conflict could range from nine months to a year, depending on various factors, including the resilience of Hamas.Extended Conflict Predicted in Gaza by Israeli Defense – IDF headquarters.

(Photo Internet reproduction)Further emphasizing the expected duration, Israel Defense Forces IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari mentioned that hostilities would continue throughout 2024.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also stressed the ongoing commitment to achieving peace and stability in Gaza.He reiterated the goals of dismantling Hamas, freeing all hostages, and ensuring Gaza’s stability as preconditions for the conflict’s end.Netanyahu had previously expressed similar sentiments in December.The prospect of a prolonged conflict raises concerns among international entities.Concerns persist over the conflict’s potential to escalate in the Middle East, possibly drawing in nations like Iran, linked with Hamas, and Lebanon, known for Hezbollah’s conflicts with Israel.These statements were made as the war marked its three-month anniversary, with a reported 22,835 Palestinian casualties in Gaza, including 9,600 children and 6,750 women.The latest update indicates that the conflict has claimed the lives of approximately 1,139 people in Israel since its onset on October 7.The ongoing conflict continues to draw international attention and calls for a sustainable resolution.
