(Opinion) Stepping into 2024, we confront a storm of challenges in the global food system that demands the world’s attention.Climate variations, geopolitical conflicts, and economic pressures intertwine, threatening our collective sustenance.El Niño, notorious for its dry spells, is set to persist into the year, risking the yield of vital crops such as rice, wheat, and palm oil.Particularly in Asia, this phenomenon is pushing rice prices to unprecedented highs, a trend that began in 2023 and shows no signs of abating.Beyond climate woes, the war in Ukraine adds layers to this crisis.

Ukraine, alongside Russia, serves as a breadbasket to the world, producing significant amounts of grains.Feeding the Future – 2024’s Global Food Dilemma.
